Antonio Felix Da Costa vince l’E-Prix di Ad Diriyah

Il pilota BMW conquista la bandiera a scacchi proprio in occasione del debutto di BMW in Formula E.

Il pilota portoghese Antonio Felix Da Costa ha realizzato un sogno per la casa automobilistica BMW che ha debuttato oggi nel campionato ABB FIA Formula E, conquistando la pole position per BMW i Andretti Motorsport.

Da Costa si aggiudica la seconda vittoria in un E-Prix in cinque stagioni – la prima risaliva alla gara di Buenos Aires della prima stagione.

Una nuova vettura, una nuova città e un nuovo format di gara. L’apertura della quinta stagione del campionato ABB FIA Formula E è stata anche teatro di incidenti, sorpassi e pioggia, che hanno dato vita a una gara entusiasmante nel cuore del sito storico patrimonio dell’UNESCO.

L’annullamento della prima e seconda sessione di prove libere e le qualifiche influenzate dalla forte pioggia, hanno avuto un impatto sulle prestazioni di otto piloti, che sono stati penalizzati sia durante le qualifiche che durante la gara, a causa di errori tecnici non risolti all’inizio della giornata.

Uno dei piloti penalizzati è stato il campione in carica Jean-Eric Vergne, che, a inizio gara, è parso essere tornato in pista esattamente con lo stesso spirito dimostrato nella scorsa stagione, ma pochi istanti dopo ha subito un drive-through.

Nonostante questo, grazie al nuovo Attack Mode, che si è rivelato estremamente efficace, il francese è riuscito a riconquistare il secondo posto, seguito da Jerome D’Ambrosio del Team Mahindra in terza posizione a concludere il podio.

Felipe Massa, anche lui penalizzato da un drive-through, ha concluso il suo debutto in Formula E al 17° posto.
